Here's to a great year.

2013 saw five consecutive years of Sophie’s Legacy challenges. As befitting the 5 year milestone Bude Sweat & Tears was the largest event to date with 55 athletes taking up the challenge. From my personal perspective it was also the best challenge that we have organised. The reasons being multiple: it was a serious physical challenge, the North Cornwall coast line was a spectacular back drop, the weather was sensational there was some excellent rivalries on the route but most of all it was the buzz at the challenge hub where so many families, supporters & athletes created a fantastic atmosphere.
Thanks once again to all of you, who helped out with the organisation, participated, supported and most importantly donated.
The challenge was not the only fundraiser this year. In June Katie & Gael led the organisation of the 2nd Sophie’s Legacy Summer Ball. As with the inaugural ball tables sold out almost immediately so the Royal Agricultural College hall was packed. Thank you to the organisers, and all those companies & individuals who provided auction lots and prizes for the raffle.
The third event that contributed to the fund raising effort this year was the NZ Ambassadors rugby game in Frankfurt in October. The rain was unrelenting but those who did brave the wet & cold were rewarded to a great game and the presence of the former All Black captain Taine Randell. Satch & Claire worked incredibly hard to run the day although they were disappointed with the return for the charities – sunshine next year.
The grand total raised this year has been £33,417.24 and this has been split equally between Prospect and Macmillan. Once again this is a fabulous effort from all of you, the supporters of Sophie’s Legacy.
Your help has ensured that Macmillan can fund a home nurse for a further 10 months and has paid for all the costs of running Propect Hospice for a full day.
Have a great Christmas & thank you again for your support
